Bible Setting: Joshua 2; Joshua 6
Rahab lived in the city of Jericho, a strong and heavily protected city that stood in the Israelites’ way as they entered the Promised Land. Rahab wasn’t an Israelite. She didn’t grow up hearing God’s commandments or stories of His miracles. But she had heard about the God of Israel—how He rescued His people from Egypt and parted the Red Sea. Deep in her heart, Rahab believed those stories were true.
When two Israelite spies secretly entered Jericho, Rahab gave them a safe place to hide. She risked her own life by protecting them. She told the spies that everyone in the city was afraid because they knew God was powerful. Then she asked for one thing: that God would spare her family when Jericho was destroyed.
The spies agreed. They told Rahab to hang a scarlet cord in her window so the Israelites would know which home to protect. When the walls of Jericho later fell down, Rahab and her family were kept safe—just as God promised. She later became part of God’s people and is remembered as a woman of great faith.
Rahab teaches kids that your past doesn’t decide your future. What matters most is the choices you make today. She shows that bravery, kindness, and trusting God can change everything—even your whole family’s story.
In The Good Fight card game, Rahab represents bold faith and protection. When kids play her card, they learn that God welcomes anyone who chooses Him, and that courage and kindness make a powerful difference in every battle.
