Scripture Setting: Throughout the Book of Mormon
Prayer appears everywhere in the Book of Mormon—from the wilderness of Lehi’s journey to the battlefield courage of the Stripling Warriors. It is the thread that ties every prophet, every family, and every generation together. Whether whispered alone or offered in desperate need, prayer is shown as a direct connection to heaven, open to anyone who is willing to reach for it.
Nephi prayed for understanding when his family faced danger. Enos prayed until his soul was filled with peace. Alma prayed for his wayward son, then later prayed for strength against overwhelming enemies. Even hardened warriors knelt in moments of fear, learning that God listens to the sincere heart.
Prayer didn’t always remove the trial. Sometimes it brought courage. Sometimes clarity. Sometimes comfort in the middle of the storm. But it always brought God closer, making the impossible feel possible.
For families today, prayer is still the doorway to guidance. It invites the Spirit into our homes, softens disagreements, strengthens relationships, and helps us see one another with more compassion. It teaches children—and adults—that God cares about every worry, every choice, every new beginning.

In Rumors of War, the Prayer card represents connection and resilience. Drawing it reminds players that strength doesn’t always come from weapons or numbers—it often comes from the quiet moments when we turn to the Lord and let Him steady our hearts.
