Bible Setting: Genesis 39
Potiphar’s wife lived in Egypt during the time Joseph was a servant in Potiphar’s house. Joseph worked hard, was honest, and earned great trust. Potiphar put him in charge of everything he owned.
Joseph’s good character made him stand out wherever he went.
But Potiphar’s wife noticed Joseph and tried to get him to do something wrong. She pressured him day after day, wanting him to break God’s commandments and betray Potiphar’s trust. Joseph refused every time. He told her, “How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”
One day she grabbed Joseph’s coat, and he ran away as fast as he could. Angry and embarrassed, she lied about Joseph and accused him of doing something he didn’t do. Because of her lie, Joseph was thrown into prison even though he was innocent. But God stayed with Joseph, helped him, and eventually raised him to a place of honor.
Potiphar’s wife teaches kids that temptation can come from people who try to pull us into wrong choices. Her story reminds us that doing what is right isn’t always easy—but it is always worth it. Joseph’s courage shows that God honors those who choose purity, honesty, and integrity.
In The Good Fight card game, Potiphar’s Wife represents temptation and false accusation. When kids encounter her card, they learn that standing strong, even when others pressure them, brings real strength and victory.
