Bible Setting: Genesis 19
Lot’s wife lived with her family in the city of Sodom, a place filled with unkindness and wicked choices. God sent two angels to warn Lot that the city would soon be destroyed and that his family needed to leave right away. The angels told them something very clear: “Do not look back.”
Lot, his wife, and their daughters hurried out of the city as the sky grew bright and the ground began to shake. But even though God was leading them to safety, Lot’s wife struggled with leaving her old life behind. Her home, her memories, and everything she knew was back there. Instead of trusting God’s warning, she turned around to look back—and in that moment, she became a pillar of salt.
Lot’s wife teaches kids an important lesson: sometimes God is calling us forward, and we have to let go of the things that pull us in the wrong direction. Looking back at bad habits, old temptations, or harmful choices can slow us down—or even stop us from becoming who God wants us to be.
For parents, her story is a gentle way to talk about moving forward after mistakes and trusting God’s direction, even when change feels scary.
In The Good Fight card game, Lot’s Wife represents the struggle between obedience and hesitation. When kids encounter her card, they learn that trusting God and moving forward with courage helps them win the battles of life—while holding on to the past can hold them back.
