Scripture Setting: 1 Nephi 1–2, Book of Mormon
Long before Nephi ever picked up a bow or built a ship, there was his father—Lehi, a man who loved God more than comfort, reputation, or safety. His story begins in the busy streets of Jerusalem, around 600 B.C., when the city was slipping into pride and danger. Lehi wasn’t a warrior or king. He was a father, a merchant, and a man who prayed with all his heart.
One night, after pleading with God on behalf of his people, Lehi was shown a vision. He saw the heavens open and a glorious light descend. He saw angels. He saw God’s power. And he learned that Jerusalem would soon fall unless the people repented. When he shared this message, the people rejected him. Some even sought his life.
Imagine the weight of that moment: the city you’ve always known is turning against you, and God asks you to take your family into the wilderness, with no map except faith. But Lehi obeyed. He gathered his family, left his home behind, and stepped into the unknown. His journey would shape not only his own life but the future of millions.
Families today can recognize Lehi’s courage—trusting God when the path ahead looks impossible, choosing faith over fear, and guiding loved ones through uncertainty. His story invites us to talk with our families about listening to spiritual promptings and choosing what is right, even when it’s hard.

In Rumors of War, Lehi’s card reflects this same steady courage. Drawing Lehi reminds players that every great story begins with one brave choice to follow God’s voice instead of the world's.
