Bible Setting: Numbers 16
Korah lived during the time of Moses and the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness. God had chosen Moses and Aaron to lead the people, guide them, and teach them God’s commandments. But Korah wasn’t happy with that. He wanted power for himself. He gathered a group of followers and challenged Moses, saying that he should be a leader too.
At first, Korah’s arguments sounded bold and exciting. He told the people what they wanted to hear. But deep inside, Korah’s heart was full of pride, not love for God or others. He didn’t want to serve—he wanted to be in charge.
Moses warned Korah that leadership wasn’t about being important. It was about obeying God and caring for the people. But Korah refused to listen. He rebelled openly, leading many others into confusion and anger.
Then God showed everyone the truth. The earth opened beneath Korah and his followers, swallowing them up, and the rebellion ended. It was a dramatic reminder that pride and disobedience lead to destruction, while humility leads to safety and peace.
Korah’s story teaches kids that leadership is about responsibility, not popularity. It reminds us that following God’s direction—rather than pushing our own way—is always the better path. It also teaches the importance of listening, obeying, and keeping a humble heart.
In The Good Fight card game, the Korah card represents the dangers of rebellion and pride. When kids face him in the game, they learn that true strength comes from obeying God and supporting good leaders, not trying to tear them down.
