JOSIAH — The Boy King Who Rediscovered God’s Word

Bible Setting: 2 Kings 22–23; 2 Chronicles 34–35

Josiah became king of Judah when he was only eight years old. Even though he was young, Josiah had a heart that wanted to follow God. As he grew older, he began to clean up the nation. He tore down idols, removed false altars, and encouraged the people to worship the Lord again.

One of the most important moments in Josiah’s life came when the priests were repairing the temple. Hidden in the dust and rubble, they found something precious—the Book of the Law, God’s Word that had been forgotten for many years. When Josiah heard the words read aloud, he was shocked. He realized how far the people had drifted from God’s commands.

Instead of ignoring the truth, Josiah took it to heart. He tore his clothes as a sign of sadness and immediately called everyone together to read God’s Word. Josiah led the whole nation to make a promise to follow God again with all their hearts. Because of Josiah’s love for God and His Word, the nation experienced peace during his reign.

Josiah teaches kids that you are never too young to make a difference. When we read the Bible and choose to follow God’s ways, we help bring goodness and light to the world around us. Josiah shows that real leadership begins with obedience and a humble heart.

Josiah represents renewal and devotion. When kids hear his story, they learn that rediscovering God’s truth brings strength, direction, and peace to every battle they face.
