Bible Setting: Genesis 37–50
Joseph was one of Jacob’s youngest sons, and his story begins in the land of Canaan. Joseph was special to his father, who gave him a colorful coat to show his love. But this made Joseph’s older brothers jealous. When Joseph shared the dreams God gave him—dreams that showed he would one day rise to a place of honor—the jealousy grew even stronger.
One day, Joseph’s brothers made a terrible choice. They sold him into slavery, and Joseph was taken far away to Egypt. Even though he was hurt, scared, and far from home, Joseph never gave up. He worked hard, trusted God, and kept doing what was right. Even when he was blamed for something he didn’t do and thrown into prison, Joseph continued to hope.
God was with Joseph the whole time. God helped him understand dreams, and eventually Joseph was brought before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Joseph correctly explained Pharaoh’s dream and was made a leader over the whole land—second only to the king!
Many years later, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt looking for food. They didn’t recognize him, but Joseph recognized them. Instead of getting revenge, Joseph chose forgiveness. He said, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”
Joseph teaches kids that no matter how hard life gets, God can turn every challenge into something good. He also teaches the power of forgiveness—one of the strongest choices we can make.
In The Good Fight card game, Joseph represents hope and forgiveness. When kids play his card, they learn that trusting God in hard times and choosing mercy over anger brings real victory in life.
