HANNAH — The Woman Who Prayed With All Her Heart

Bible Setting: 1 Samuel 1–2

Hannah lived in the hill country of Israel during a time when many people had forgotten to follow God. Hannah longed to have a child, but year after year she remained childless, and it made her heart hurt deeply. Even though she was sad, Hannah never stopped talking to God. She poured out her feelings in prayer, trusting that God listened.

One day, Hannah went to the tabernacle and prayed with such emotion that the priest, Eli, thought she was upset or confused. But Hannah explained that she was simply sharing her pain with God. Touched by her honesty, Eli blessed her and said God would answer her prayer.

And God did. Hannah gave birth to a son named Samuel, who later became one of Israel’s greatest prophets. Hannah kept her promise to God and dedicated Samuel to His service. Instead of holding him back, Hannah trusted that Samuel belonged in God’s hands. Her faith and her prayers helped shape the future of Israel.

Hannah teaches kids that God hears every prayer, even the quiet ones said through tears. She shows that we can take our biggest feelings to God—joy, sadness, fear, or hope—and He cares about them all.
