Bible Setting: 1 Samuel 17
Goliath was a huge warrior from the Philistine army. He stood over nine feet tall, wore heavy armor, and carried weapons bigger than most men. Every day he walked into the valley between the Philistines and the Israelites and shouted challenges. He dared someone—anyone—from Israel to fight him. But the soldiers were terrified. Goliath looked unbeatable.
For forty days, no one stepped forward…until a young shepherd named David arrived with food for his brothers. David heard Goliath mocking God and His people and couldn’t believe no one was brave enough to face him. David didn’t see a giant too big to fight—he saw a giant too big to miss.
While everyone else trusted armor and strength, David trusted God. When he stepped onto the field, Goliath laughed at him. But David stood firm, saying, “The battle is the Lord’s!” With one stone from his sling, he struck Goliath in the forehead and brought the giant crashing down.
Goliath teaches kids that some problems look huge, but nothing is bigger than God. Giants can be fear, bullies, worries, or challenges—but with faith, courage, and God’s help, even the biggest giants can fall.
In The Good Fight card game, Goliath represents the intimidating challenges we all face. When kids encounter his card, they learn that courage, trust, and standing with God can defeat even the toughest enemies.
