Scripture Setting: 1 Nephi 3–4
When Lehi’s sons were commanded to return to Jerusalem for the brass plates, it wasn’t a simple errand. It meant walking back into danger—into the city that wanted their father dead, into the reach of powerful men who would not hesitate to hurt them. Laman and Lemuel saw only the risk. But Nephi saw something different.
Instead of arguing, Nephi prayed. And what he received was one of the most famous promises in scripture:“I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded.” (1 Nephi 3:7)
“Go and do” wasn’t blind obedience. It was confidence in a God who never gives a command without preparing a way to accomplish it. Nephi didn’t know how the plates would be delivered. He didn’t know what dangers waited in the dark streets of Jerusalem. But he believed that if he acted in faith, the Lord would guide his steps.
That simple decision—to trust and then move forward—changed everything. It strengthened his family, preserved sacred records, and shaped the future of an entire people.
For families today, “go and do” is a reminder that faith grows when we take small steps forward, even when we’re unsure of the outcome.

In Rumors of War, the Go and Do card represents courage in action. Drawing it encourages players to move boldly, trust the Lord’s direction, and step into the unknown with faith.
