Bible Setting: Ezra 1–10; Nehemiah 8
Ezra lived during the time when God’s people were returning home from exile in Babylon. The city of Jerusalem had been ruined, the temple had been destroyed, and many people had forgotten God’s laws. Ezra was a priest and a skilled teacher who loved God deeply and wanted to help the people follow Him again.
When King Artaxerxes allowed more Israelites to return to their homeland, Ezra led a group of families on the long journey back to Jerusalem. He prayed for God’s protection, trusting the Lord to guide them safely. When they arrived, Ezra saw that many people had drifted far from God’s ways. They needed direction, hope, and truth.
Ezra didn’t shout or demand. Instead, he opened God’s Word and taught the people what it said. He read it out loud, and the people listened for hours. As they heard God’s commands, many realized how much they needed to change. Tears filled their eyes—but Ezra reminded them that learning God’s truth is something to celebrate.
Ezra helped rebuild more than walls or buildings—he helped rebuild hearts. Through patient teaching, prayer, and devotion, he guided the people back into a strong relationship with God.
Ezra teaches kids that learning God’s Word helps us grow strong and wise. He shows that teaching others with patience and kindness can change an entire community.
Ezra represents wisdom, teaching, and spiritual renewal. When kids learn his story, they learn that knowing and following God’s truth leads to lasting strength and victory.
