Bible Setting: Esther 1–10
Esther lived in Persia at a time when many Jewish people were far from their homeland. She was raised by her cousin Mordecai after her parents died, and she learned early on to be humble, wise, and faithful. One day, the king held a search for a new queen, and Esther was chosen. Even though she was young and far from home, God had a special plan for her life.
When the king’s official Haman plotted to destroy all the Jewish people, Mordecai begged Esther to help. But speaking to the king without being invited was dangerous—even for a queen. Esther felt afraid. What if she died? Still, she knew that God had placed her in the palace for a reason.
After praying and fasting, Esther went before the king. Instead of being angry, the king welcomed her. Esther courageously revealed Haman’s wicked plan and asked the king to save her people. The king listened, and God used Esther’s bravery to stop the destruction.
Because of Esther’s faith and courage, the Jewish people were saved, and the festival of Purim began as a celebration of God’s deliverance.
Esther teaches kids that one person’s courage can make a huge difference. Even when we feel small or scared, God can use us to help others, stand up for what is right, and shine His light in dark places.
In The Good Fight card game, Esther represents bravery, wisdom, and divine purpose. When kids play her card, they learn that choosing courage—even in hard moments—leads to victory and protection for those we love.
