Bible Setting: 1 Kings 17–19; 2 Kings 2
Elijah lived during a time when many people in Israel had turned away from God. King Ahab and Queen Jezebel encouraged the nation to worship false gods, and most people were too afraid to speak up. But not Elijah. God called him to be a prophet—a messenger who reminded people of the truth.
Elijah trusted God even when it was dangerous. When there was a terrible drought, God fed Elijah through ravens who brought him bread and meat every day. Later, Elijah stayed with a poor widow and her son. God performed a miracle by keeping their jar of flour and jug of oil from ever running out.
One of Elijah’s greatest moments happened on Mount Carmel. He challenged the prophets of Baal to a contest to show who the real God was. They prayed all day, but nothing happened. Then Elijah prayed once, and God sent fire from heaven that burned up the offering, the stones, and even the water around it! Everyone saw that the Lord was the true God.
Even though Elijah was brave, he sometimes felt scared and alone. When Queen Jezebel threatened him, he ran into the wilderness. But God met him there—not in wind, fire, or earthquakes, but in a gentle whisper, reminding Elijah that He was with him.
Elijah teaches kids that God gives us courage, even when we feel alone. He shows that standing for truth matters, and that God speaks in quiet, peaceful ways.
In The Good Fight card game, Elijah represents bold faith and God’s unstoppable power. When kids play his card, they learn that trusting God—even against great odds—leads to victory and strength.
