Bible Setting: Exodus 4–40; Leviticus
Aaron was the older brother of Moses and grew up among the Israelites in Egypt. While Moses had been raised in Pharaoh’s palace, Aaron lived among the people and understood their struggles well. When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery, Moses felt nervous about speaking in front of people. God answered by choosing Aaron to be Moses’ helper and spokesman.
Aaron stood beside Moses when they confronted Pharaoh. He delivered God’s messages, threw down his staff that became a serpent, and helped call down some of the plagues God sent to convince Pharaoh to let the Israelites go. Aaron was brave, steady, and loyal as he helped Moses carry out God’s plan.
But Aaron’s story also shows his human weakness. When Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments, the people grew impatient. They begged Aaron to make them something to worship, and Aaron gave in. He crafted a golden calf, and the people began to worship it. It was a serious mistake. Aaron learned that even leaders must choose what is right, even when people pressure them to do wrong.
Later, God forgave Aaron and gave him an important role as the first high priest of Israel. Aaron helped teach the people how to worship God, how to offer sacrifices, and how to stay close to the Lord.
Aaron teaches kids that God uses imperfect people. Even when we mess up, God can forgive us and help us become leaders who lift others up. Aaron shows the importance of courage, honesty, and learning from our mistakes.
